Raymond Deane, born 1953 on Achill Island, is a composer, pianist, author and political activist. He has written over a hundred works of music, in most genres. They are widely performed and featured on various recordings. He was Artistic Director of the first two RTÉ Living Music Festivals (2002 / 2004), has a doctorate in composition from NUI Maynooth, and is a member of Aosdána.
